Stand is firm and the monitor does not wobble It makes transitioning pictures/video seem so much more fluid and there isn't any noticeable motion blur (this is especially the case in FPS games) 144hz (or even 120hz) is absolutely a huge game changer in the world of gaming and even just regular computer usage. Installed an excellent ICC Profile* for the monitor which makes it absolutely incredible (For people who complain about pic quality or potentially washed out colours I had initially hesitated because of reading some negative comments about colour/picture quality, but honestly, the default settings were great. Pros: First off, Ive had this monitor for about 3 weeks now and I have to say, I can never, ever go back to having a standard 60hz monitor. In Summary this is the best gaming screen I have ever had, looks amazingly well after color profile correction!

Install the driver to enable 144Hz in Windows, then go to (google it with keyword VG248QE) and download the specific AMD or NVIDIA color profile for this monitor which you can load to win7 or win8 and lastly set the monitor (firmware menu) to:Īlternatively (or additionally) google Zero Motion Blur and use the LightBoost feature in 2D mode to literally eliminate motion blur (like on CRT). Overall Review: Knocking one egg off for bad stock color (ICC) profile. NOTE: there is custom ICC profile available for this monitor and NVIDIA orAMD cards on - get that, it's much better than stock one! *built-in speaker (never used them personally)Ĭons: *stock ICC color profile is bad for eyes (brightness & contrast) and looks washed out of saturation *easy to navigate menu allowing for multitude of adjustments *excellent stand allowing for all direction adjustment Pros: *great price at ($264.99) where I bought it Ultra smooth action with 144 Hz rapid refresh rate and 1ms (GTG) response timeįull HD 1920 x 1080, 80,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, and 350 cd/m2 of brightness for like-like visualsĪ comfortable viewing experience with ergonomic tilt, swivel pivot, and height adjustmentįeaturing DisplayPort, Dual-link DVI-D, and HDMI ports for multi device connectionsīuilt-in 2W stereo speakers for an immersive home entertainment experienceĭimensions & Weight Dimensions (H x W x D)Īdditional Information Date First Available Still undecided if my next monitor will be from Asus.Learn more about the ASUS VG248QE Model Brandĭual-link DVI-D (support NVIDIA 3D Vision)īSMI, CB, CCC, CE, C-Tick, ErP, FCC, Gost-R, J-MOSS, PSE, RoHS, UL / cUL, VCCI, WEEE, WHQL (Windows 8, Windows 7) Dave from Accounting is not a "pro-gamer", no matter what he tells you. While I'm glad to see that newer monitors have a dot option and I don't even care about the only 2 colors bit I'm a bit disappointed that there hasn't been a driver update for the old monitors. you won't have games running on it) just buy something much cheaper with lower specs. No point being stuck with an old monitor with outdated features. IMO you should return the 24" one and buy something else. I can't seem to find any info on firmware updates for monitors, so I guess we're SOL. How there is no Firmware update for both displays? The LEAST I could expect from very expensive displays, and from a company that sells them as the very best for gaming, are firmware updates that give the Dot Crosshair option to the PG258Q just like the PG27UQ, and also allows you to choose the crosshair color and transparency.

Is inconceivable to me that, from the two displays that I brought at the very same day, the 24" PG258Q have two very obstructives and obnoxious crosshairs with just two colors to chose, while the 27" display have the same two, plus another (very reasonable) Dot Crosshair, but also with just two colors.
